We can save many RELATIONS If we understand a simple fact that people are not DIFFICULT, they are different! What are the challenges we face when we deal with our various stakeholders?
This was the question I posed to a group of facilitators from the International Association of Facilitators in a webinar I hosted on “Understanding Stakeholders”. The responses ranged from obvious ones like “Lack of alignment” to some very interesting ones like “Does not take decisions till the last minute”! The webinar was a lot of fun as we together reflected upon our professional experiences and learnt from each other’s experiences. With breakout-room activities, we brainstormed in groups and explored the 3 step “ECP” Model of understanding stakeholders. The model asks us to Consciously Empathize with the stakeholder, Diagnose their Communication Need and Identify their Personality Drivers to fully understand them as a person and their expectations from you.
I am humbled by the positive responses and I look forward to more such sessions. I’m grateful to IAF for providing me with an opportunity to host this webinar and interact with a phenomenal group.
